Part Time Shopkeeper and Social Media Marketing Assistant

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to join us at Matriarch to help boost our social presence with the goal of growing our online sales. This role will begin as 10-15 hours per week, in person at the shop, with potential to grow into more. The compensation starts at $21 per hour (with time and half on Sundays and holidays).

The role will focus on 3 areas in addition to working a standard shift at the shop:

  1. Social media: creating social media content (primarily video) that is both original and follows trends where appropriate
  2. Website design and maintenance: keep both the Overseasoned and Matriarch websites looking fresh and seasonal to optimize online sales
  3. Graphic design: creating graphic assets (using Canva or your preferred tools) such as gift guides, book lists, and event flyers as the store needs

We’re looking for an individual who is:

  • Energetic, upbeat, creative and flexible who is passionate about small businesses and is excited to showcase Matriarch, its products and its mission!
  • Experienced in creating video content for Instagram and TikTok, keeps a pulse on social media trends and is ready to act on them swiftly
  • Outgoing and comfortable appearing on camera occasionally
  • Responsible and independent and can deliver quality work on a deadline

Tech savvy and learns new tools (such as video editing) quickly

  • Has marketing or entrepreneurial aspirations who is eager to learn about how to operate and market a small business
  • Is aligned with the mission of Matriarch and the nonprofit organizations where we give back.

Note: we do not allow use of generative AI at Matriarch. That means all social media captions, website copywriting, graphics and artwork must be original and human created. We strictly want to see what your brain has to offer!

If this sounds like you, reach out to amy@overseasoned.com and include the following information:

  • Your availability and resume
  • Links or examples of past social media/marketing work
  • A response to these 3 prompts:
    • Who are your favorite small businesses or brands that you patronize? (list 3-5 examples)
    • Name 3 small businesses or brands that you think are doing a great job at social media and would like to emulate
    • Share links to 3 small businesses/brands’ websites that you like and think are easy to interact with/purchase from
