“I believe my existence in this world is a resistance in itself.”

What do you do in the food world and what do you love about it?
I am the Culinary Director at Cherry Bombe and I love that I have a position that allows me to amplify the work of other women that inspire me in all corners of the food world.

How do you resist the patriarchy?
I just give my time and attention to things that matter to me. I believe my existence in this world is a resistance in itself.

It takes a lot of trial and error and re-calibrating to reach success. What has been your favorite failure along the way?
My time as an executive chef! I learned a lot and I failed a lot but I don't regret any of it.

What gets you pumped up and feeling confident?
Music! Specifically Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé. Oh, and a great new pair of shoes.

You're super talented and you know how to wow people with your food. What is the most adventurous or show-stopping thing you've cooked?
The Duck Mac and Cheese I made for my 22nd Birthday. I became obsessed with the dish after having a bad version of it at a local bar. So I dedicated myself to learning how to make duck confit the learning how to make really great Mac and Cheese ( shout out to The Kitchenista) and I turned it out for my birthday. My friends freaked out haha.

What do you think is the most underrated pantry item?
Nutritional Yeast

What are you most excited about doing in your new role as the culinary director at Cherry Bombe?
Leading more community work and creating original recipes :)

What's the best piece of advice you've received from another woman?
Say no! The work will always be there. If they want you and respect your time, they'll come back when you're ready. Do not work yourself ragged because you're afraid of opportunities disappearing.
